I will not lie to you. WAIT is hard; it’s difficult and like
the path of a narrow road, comes with a myriad of challenges and unique
hurdles. The struggle emanates from the world, yourself, the carnal man, who is
driven by the Pride of Life, the Lust of the Eyes and the Lust of the Flesh and of course the
Devil who uses the 3 to execute ones downfall. Hebrews 11:1 “Now
faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”
Faith then provides that affirmation that God is going to do that thing even
when I see it not and it hasn’t manifested in the physical realm. Faith causes
one to build up on that hope that God will fulfill His promise in the course of
time.
And so we ask, why is faith an important thing for unmarried in their
season of waiting? Simple. Faith solidifies your trust in the Lord that if He
had called you for celibacy, then He would have told you so and so like
Abraham, you learn to hope against all hope. Remember how he was assured of a
son even past child bearing, but the Bible records that he believed and did not
waiver in his faith.
Wait is hard and difficult of I guess almost all
exhortations in the Bible. Wait becomes even harder when we are uncertain of
the future or the thing we are waiting for. Choosing to wait in this sense will
in some way mean facing the difficulty of isolation and sexual frustration.
Other times you may go for months feeling very assured that your contented in
Christ and are cool with where you are only to run into an a seeming “happy and
flawless couple” and end up spending the weekend depressed and questioning your
sanity; Like you are missing out on a key eschaton affair like rapture while
the rest are enjoying reigning with the King.
Like any other ‘mountain” in life the Wait has its ups and
downs, seasons of triumph, and plateaus where nothing seems to be happening. It
is in this bleak season when you wonder if your choice to find security in Him
and WAIT that faith helps you hold everything together. You see, it is Faith in
Him that keeps us going through those quiet times, trusting that if we persist
and stay true to our intention, He will reward us in due time. Those times that
you thought you were strong in Him and as you passed by Caffe Deli, an urge of
having coffee with someone dear and telling of how your day was overwhelms you
and you feel like life sucks. Those times that you went to a play at Alliance’ Françoise
solo and you wish you could share the jokes and laugh with somebody dear. Yes, faith
helps you to hold up together at those desperate times.
Vs 6 “But without faith it is impossible
to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that
He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.”
Because this Wait lies in uncertainty of the duration it
will take for your supposed mate to become apparent to you, then faith becomes
a basic ingredient without which it’s hard to hold up without.
No one knows the when. For some it could be months, years
before you are mentally, emotionally, and spiritually set, but there’s no way
to know when that will be.
With WAIT, then one must have faith that God will make your
wait worthwhile. And as the psalmist shares in Chapter 27 vs 14 “Wait on the Lord;Be of good courage,And He
shall strengthen your heart;
Wait, I say, on the Lord!
Wait, I say, on the Lord!
Remember, faith is not about everything turning out okay. Faith
is about being okay no matter how things turn out. And in as much as faith is
invisible like the Wi-Fi, it will connect you to what you need to see.
Keep the faith up.
Deepest Care,
Sisters’ Keeper.
