WOULDN’T IT BE NICE…If we were real, honest and understanding to each other?
Looking at my wall calendar, I realized that this month’s theme is from Acts 2:44-47” And the believers were together and had everything in common …Praising God and enjoying the favor of all people”
I have particularly decided to make this month a lot different by extending a kind word to someone, be a blessing to their life or do something that will touch a life everyday to at least one person. This is not necessarily about the big things you can imagine but actually am concerned about the small and little things in life. Sending someone a kind and encouraging text, give the neighbor next door a cheerful good morning greeting with a smile, pray for someone, helping that mother next door lull her cry baby, unhang the clothes of the neighbor when the rain comes and they are not in, chatting with that security person at the supermarket and make them realize they too are important for the world to be complete, do someone’s nails ,be a listening ear when need be, appreciate those around me and even buy a gift to someone as the Lord blesses me and of course the list is goes on and on. The reason for doing this is not obtaining favor from anyone but from the realization that we take so many things for granted.
Following a discussion with some friends on Sunday evening, what became so apparent was the fact that most of us are very superficial in our relationships with others even when we actually fellowship together. It was so clear that most of us are barely concerned about the welfare of the person seated next to you at the pew on Sunday such that after the service some even don’t remember who was seated next to them. The sad reality is that this continues to affect how we relate with others coz we rarely are there for others and that’s why, most of us when chatting and someone asks you how you are, we are usually quick to say “am fine in the Lord brother and God continues to be faithful” even when you are so damn sure everything is not okay. You don’t have the rent nor food in your house but when asked, the first response is am fine brethren, the Lord continues to be faithful to me!!! Really, is that how we are supposed to relate and live like a family?
God is good, He is very faithful but what is so wrong in admitting that all is not well when we know we are about to snap. I just couldn’t help but over think about it.
Besides the “stupid” stuff I jot down in my diary today, I desire for a season each and every one of us shall be true to the other, honest and understanding as the church of Christ; being there for each other. A time when we will not hide under the umbrella of am FINE when we are not.
